I loved my visit here. Just passed through Albuquerque and wanted to get a vegan meal that is healthy. The young man at the counter helped with suggestions and the vegan bowl was indeed delicious. I also had a passion fruit smoothie which was yummy. The chef came out and the server as well to check on me. Very nice vibe and comfortable inside, too.
The food was very disappointing, considering James Beard rated them as runner up for their award. First we got the plantain appetizer, which was totally flavorless. We took a few bites and left the rest. Then we got the pork tamales, also flavorless. Didn't finish those either. I actually don't even remember the desert, but we didn't finish it. Food is amazing. Its a little pricey for a lunch.
Delicious and authentic! El Vado has a great patio and is an easy walk from the aquarium or gardens. The Costa Rican food is excellent and their casado platter is a big portion. The hands down best carnitas in town! It's weird to recommend the cake at a tiny place like this, but you'll want to save room because the lemon berry cake is moist, fresh, and wonderfully flavorful. I was very fortunate to come here on a day where is was pleasant to be outside . Food was great , service was great , and the vibe was great . Only knock was due to the counter kinda hidden towards the back of the small interior space and was awkward at first . Otherwise everything we ate was amazing ....queso frito appetizer was huge!
