Highly recommend this tour, it runs for roughly an hour longer than most of the cruise ship excursions which allows the guides to get to some more remote locations. Stu our guide was a great host, we particularly loved the fact that he wasn’t a seasonal worker and lives here year round, he also mentioned he has family ties to the area going back thousands of years. Beware of this tour if you use a wheelchair. Despite assurances that they can accommodate handicap, there is not enough time to make it from the cruise ship to the excursion meeting location. The leaving time is scheduled for 30 minutes after your ships arrival. In that 30 minutes you need to make it off your ship, through the line for the gondolas, and through the adventure center to the excursion hub. We had a great experience on our recent Wildlife and Bear search tour. Very knowledgeable and engaging guide who grew up in Hoonah and knew the land so well (as opposed to some tours where it’s a young college kid who is just in Alaska for the sunmer). Highly recommend!
