Douglas came out to check on my toilet today after another plumber had stopped by for the same issue earlier. He found that the seal on the tower inside the tank was letting water slowly leak out, which made the toilet keep refilling itself over and over. The previous plumber only adjusted the chain connecting the handle to the tower, and even though it seemed fixed at first, the problem started again later.
