my mother's best friend made the mistake of moving here. i can't blame her as this was a decent place under previous management, but it's far more like a jail now than anything else under new management. today my mother had to walk in the heat to my car as i was not allowed on the property to pick her up as visitation pickups require pre approval with security as per management policy. What a great place this is!!! Dad has been in the Assisted Living for a year now and my sister and I could not be happier. The facility is lovely and very clean. There are multiple activities for the resident to do, including trips to Galveston or Brenham, etc. they go to the movies, the museum and out to eat regularly. My mother was taken here (April 2012) after a week in the hospital for a heart attack. Her mind was unaffected but she still needed nursing attention for a few days. She was placed in the 'skilled nursing' wing where seemingly all other patients had lost their minds and mobility. She had very limited nursing attention overnight and no rest, bothered by the other 'inmates' singing, talking gibberish, etc. The nursing care was indifferent, they spilled a bedpan over her and thought it funny. My mom is so happy living at College View Manor. The staff is great - very friendly and caring. Mom is always commenting on the delicious meals and really likes the salad bar. Even though she needs some help with her medicines, she is able to get that help from the home health care agency that is located right there at College View. This is much less expensive than paying for assisted living services that she doesn't need, plus she has a much larger and nicer apartment at College View. Meadowood cared for my family member following a hospital stay and I was so impressed with the care and concern showed to him and our family. The nurses were outstanding and the therapy department helped him realize significant gains. He was able to return home and continues to sing the praises of the great staff!

This is by far the best assisted living community in the city and they provide tender loving care to family members with Alzheimers.
I have a relative here that has gone from assisted living into the nursing home part of the building. The staff is good to my relative. My major complaint is that the billing department can make mistakes at times.
