Tom Brooks was our elderly next-door neighbour on 46th Ave. in the 50s and 60s; he and his wife seemed very nice. Brooks-Corning was the major supplier of school furniture and other supplies and equipment to the Vancouver School Board.(The razor strap you were whacked with was, likely, supplied by Brooks-Corning.) Tom Brooks was chairman of the Vancouver School Board. Why, what an odd co-incidence.
Great experience overall at Brooks Corning, shoutout to Tom who was super helpful in finding me the perfect Haworth Fern chair with all the custom configurations I was looking for. In store they had a ton of samples and a great website for custom configuration options. The chair arrived about a week earlier than expected too which was great, and the updates and customer service from Gayathri in regards to delivery was great. I was on the hunt for a specific office chair - a Haworth Zody. It was an absolute pleasure working with Tom, who was so helpful and responsive and patient when I was asking a million questions! Brooks Corning is a major supplier of office furniture for The University of British Columbia and their installations have always been flawless. When I retired I asked UBC if I could keep my chair and they graciously accepted. Two months ago I tore the rubber cover on the left arm and wrote Brooks Corning asking about replacements and cost.
