I signed up to give birth at The Brooklyn Birthing Center back in January. They give you a very informative and extensive orientation after you've passed the screening process to see if you qualify to give birth there. They also give you a great dress rehearsal as well shortly before you give birth. I left my last OBGYN office because as a Black woman, I felt like I was not taken seriously or heard. My Birthing experience at the center was great. The staff is amazing and the service top notch. Thanks to the amazing team of midwives I felt overwhelming support and done my best to make it to all my prenatal appointments. If I were to do it all over again the Brooklyn birthing center would be my only choice.
My labor and delivery experience was exactly like I wanted. Calm, intimate & fast. It wasn't like the hospital in which I was restricted and restrained by cords and wires to monitor me and the baby. I got to move around freely. There wasn't a set of nurses, residents and interns coming in asking me a series questions. No bright lights, negative remarks & stress.
