Approaching the date that my Brookline Bank CD came due , I received a note in the mail telling me that my certificate would mature on August 9, 2023. The note indicated that the CD would automatically renew at the rate offered at maturity and for the same term.The morning of August 9, I decided to call and find out what the current interest rates on CDs were and was told it was 4.5%. THIS BUSINESS DESERVES 0 STARS. THE ONLY REASON I AM GIVING IT 1 STAR IS BECAUSE THIS SYSTEM IS MAKING ME! I made a note on a check to apply extra money (meaning over what was actually due that month) to principle on a car loan, but the entire amount was credited to principle. Consequently, that caused my account to go into overdue status. I have been trying to sort this out for 10 months. Brookline Bank !!! What can I say they are the worst bank I have ever dealt with, I called on March 24 I believe to tell them my payment would be late because of when my ** check comes in and would pay two payments on Friday the 30th. I asked if she could make a memo regarding call and payment date so there would be any problems. She said it would be fine so I wasn't worried about any issues and I would have made payment on the 30th.
