I worked at Brookdale for a year in the memory care unit. I absolutely loved the residents.. Unfortunately the work place is not a good environment. Manager pick favorites within the employees. While HER least favorite employees are the overworked ones & least paid. CNAS are overworked, & unfortunately the residents are the ones that suffer. Now that my brother is on Hospice the care in the Memory Care unit remains amazing. FaceTime (FT) for his family, who live hundreds of miles away, is very useful and the workers do their best to have him ready for FT which can be scheduled in very short time on the same day of request. Thank you, hands-on Caretakers.
I have been working in the memory care unit in activities for a year now. We have a wonderful team here and it is a great pleasure coming to work each week. Come and visit us and see how we will take extreme care of your loved ones.

I worked activities in the memory care unit for a month. I ended up leaving because I couldn’t handle seeing some of the CNA’s being impatient and mean toward the residents in the memory care unit. I saw one of my favorite residents be mistreated and I started crying and just left. I didn’t tell them that that’s why I left, and they had no idea that that’s why I was crying.
