Great Experience – I'm not sure if I came in on a day that the staff was in a good mood, but I received wonderful customer service. Plus, the shop is locally owned (and I prefer to support local) so I understand the return policy and such. Good selection as well.
bad service – Nice selection of merchandise, but the service is terrible.
Go Elsewhere – Decent selection, ok prices. The staff, however, was terrible. The woman at the check out was rude and dismissive and charged me the wrong amount for all three items I bought! This was my first time at Broadway Panhandler, and definitely my last.
Bad Customer Service – I used to really like this place and even though I knew I could buy the Lecruset saute pan for 10% less at Zabars I still went there thinking that they were worth supporting with my business. Imagine my surprise when I brought in an obviously defective pan 2 weeks later (the enamel was chipping) and they told me? there was nothing they could do and that I was to send it back to the company." For that wonderful level of customer service I could buy it online and save tax and shipping. Why even bother su... read more
Bring back the old staff – The other reviews on the site get to the the problem of this place: This company had more professional service and enthusiastic staff with aprons when the store was on Broadway. The staff at the 8th Street location is not as expert. Some of the staff are disinterested; some are helpful. It you are looking for something in particular try Macy's instead. If you are looking for something high-end and have money to burn, try one of the city's Williams-Sonoma locations. Alas, this place is worth stoppin... read more
cool merchandise, out-to-lunch staff – I called before going to the store to ask about an item. The staff member was very nice on the phone--but when I got home after making the purchase, it turned out he had given me the wrong information, so I ended up with something different from what I had paid for. The store has great merchandise, but since it does not offer itself as a mass-market discount merchant (like Bed, Bath and Beyond), it should also offer good service. Unfortunately, its staff is ill-formed and unpleasant. Yo... read more
Lazy, lousy, and lame staff – I remember when this store used to be in Soho. Back then the staff knew the products and wanted to help. Unfortunately with the staff in the new store those days are long gone. It is a shame because the store is walking distance from my home. The only reason why I gave this store 2 stars is only because I do like the products and from time to time they do offer lower prices. I have shopped at this store several times so my experiences with this staff is not a one time thing. Hmm...let me give yo... read more
For those whose ideal weekend involves mastering the art of de-boning. – The Store Less insane than Zabar's upstairs, less stuffy than Williams-Sonoma, this sprawling land o' cookware attracts everyone from NYU students on the hunt for a decent frying pan ("Look, Mom, I made eggs.") to self-proclaimed chefs, armed with serious shopping lists ("Look, Maurice, I made eggs Benedict for 50."). Though slightly maze-like and congested at times (despite double-height ceilings, which do help), it's one-stop shopping for the fine art... read more
