in august 2025 i sent my first attempt to update my direct deposit acct. since then it has taken 6 requests over 7 months to complete it, not including several calls i made. if they cannot handle updating acct information, how can you expect them to handle your money? additionally, when they reject your requests, they do not let you know over email or phone, they send a letter via snail mail which is a hit or miss. so there is no way for the customer to know the request status without calling. and when you do call, it your r... read more

In early March of 2025, my mother had decided to change the beneficiaries on her Brighthouse Financial insurance accounts to my sister and I, who are her only children, rather than her grandchildren because the proceeds were not split evenly amongst the 5 of them. I had contacted Brighthouse by email and phone and they emailed me a Beneficiary change form on March 12, 2025, which I sent back to them on March 20th by email stating that if there were any issues to please call or email me. I truly wish I could give zero stars. Customer service will intentionally hang up on you. The company has perfected the art of frustrating a person until they give up. Please avoid at all costs.

Brighthouse is a terrible company. NO one should sign up for life insurance with them, especially a term policy. Especially if you pay and cancel they REFUSE to refund any of your premium. Terrible way to run a company and I am going to report them to consumer affairs as well. Boycott them
