This hospital just let my husband pass this early morning, it was a perfect death set up. They took away the ventilator without letting HCP(me) be aware, without my consent. When I got there at 5:30pm yesterday, found my husband was in pain and suffer because he was NOT ready to breathe on his own yet. I kept requesting to get back on ventilator, they refused. At first, the hospital limited my husband’s care. They refused blood transfusions, any blood products, x-rays, CT scans, lab tests, and pressors even they damaged his arm and let him keep bleeding, all under the claim of DNR/DNI and “no escalation.” I kept objecting, reminding them that as his Health Care Proxy they could not make those choices without my consent. Denied a 31 year old dad a heart transplant. You in the business of making broken homes? Then why do you act like it?
If you have the option to go literally anywhere else, I would recommend you so so. They lie through their teeth constantly, they mislead people any chance they get, getting them to send me an email with some documents took over a month and I had to call them every week, and email then 5 times before they sent the email. I don't know who they bought off to get labeled "the best hospital in the country" but that's so far from the truth it's not even funny.
