My experience started with my consultant greeting me in slipper socks and leggings; something I could have overlooked if she would have at least offered an explanation. The fact that she didn't leads me to believe that she thinks this is appropriate work attire. I do not think it is. The rest of my experience continued to be just as unprofessional as my consultant's attire.
This consultant started out sounding knowledgeable, asking what dresses I have tried on and liked, but then proceeded to only give me one dress that fit my very simple request (champagne or ivory with lots of lace.) I felt as though she was trying to push their "featured designer" on me, even though that particular designer's dresses didn't really fit into the style I liked, and they did carry the designer I had mentioned that I do like. She appeared offended when I told her I didn't like a particular style of dress she picked out. She said something to my mother along the lines of "it's not your wedding" or "you don't have to wear the dress" when my mom stated her opinion, thus making her feel uncomfortable about giving me her opinion, which I value. She didn't offer me any veils or headpieces to try on. Lastly, she would not let me try on any dresses that were outside my budget. This I can almost excuse, accept for the fact that this is the only time in my life when I will get to try on a dress that is worth more than my first car and I am going to do it, whether I can afford it or not. (Mind you, I think my budget is fairly generous.)
I do believe this consultant was experienced and knew what she was doing, but failed to let me in on it. She didn't communicate to me the process at all, nor did she give me any information on incentives or discounts. I didn't even realize that the appointment was over until she informed me saying "you're done." I left feeling so short changed, that I immediately called another bridal boutique and asked for a walk in appointment.
FYI- Cathy at Simply Grand was a doll. We had a wonderful experience there. I also enjoyed working with Louis at Fashion Expressions in Albany.
Finally, needless to say, I will NOT be buying my dress here.
