I have been a patient of Dr Heffelfinger and Fox Valley Optham for 25 plus years. I recently went in for a yearly eye exam. He looked at my eyes with the bright light and said I have macula degeneration. No explanation of any kind as to type, severity, or what the prognosis is. He was trying to leave the room as I asked some quick questions he did answer such as what should I do now....he said a Mediterranean diet, handed me an amsler grid with no explanation!
