On our way to Wild Springs Dunes (WSD) to play golf from Austin, we stayed the night in Nacogdoches and stopped at Brendyn’s for dinner. Coming from the land of Franklin’s, Terry Black’s, La BBQ and Leroy and Lewis, consider Brendyn’s BBQ to be in the same category with them all, and then some. This is a hidden gem in East Texas where the brisket (esp. the tender, juicy cut) was next level. I ordered a mix of meats along with the corn and potato salad. The standout was definitely the corn—the addition of jalape�os gave it a fantastic kick! The service was also excellent, with a very friendly and welcoming staff. Unfortunately, the main downside was the temperature of the food. Both the ribs and brisket were served cold, which really impacted their flavor. The pulled pork was warm enough but just okay in terms of taste. If the meats had been served hot, it would have been a much better experience. 👍 👌
