Not responsive to patient’s needs or aware of patient’s history or the type of mammogram ordered. This is my 3rd experience of this with University Health at Mays cancer center, each prior has been the same. I was informed it was a “one off” each time. UT and UHS really need to be honest about billing. UHS billed more than 1000 dollars to my insurance for a mammogram and then UT billed separately for radiologist read. My insurance is only accepted at UHS and not UT. I called UHS before getting the mammogram and was told everything would be covered. This is the first time I have had to pay for preventative care which I find ridiculous. These people need to be more upfront about billing instead of just grabbing peoples money. I was told that I would not receive the TOMOGRAPHY mammogram ordered by my doctor and instead would receive the normal mammogram. I'm rather large breasted and the observing tech told me and the tech the doctor wouldn't want to spend the time looking at all that tissue. My past reports have showen dense tissue that can't be read with regular mammograms. While they left the room to discuss it further I quickly dressed and left. They did NOT build my confidence in the use of mammograms.

My papers were apparently stuck in with another patients and I sat in a room for an hour while new patients came and went before me. As I was going to ask why I wasn't taken back yet, a tech came and asked me if I had my mammogram yet. When I told her I had not, she came back and took me in. She told me I was not her patient, that my orders were stuck in with another patients orders. It was the end of the day and that was the fastest and roughest mammogram I ever had. Fast and convenient. Very easy to make appointment. Radiologist with expertise in mammograms reviews results. Have gone there every year and had same experience. Will go back again !
