Our 1912 two-story home in Hiawatha was showing its age as stressed floor joists caused both floors to sag near the staircase. I texted Brad Scott Construction Sept. 19th, 2023 like his website stated to get an estimate on installing some steel beams in my basement. Didn’t hear anything back so I called and left a message a few weeks later. I finally get a call from him and we schedule him to come out today, Oct. 19th. A couple hours before our scheduled time I get a message from Brad stating “Sorry my schedule is now full. I can’t bid any more work at this time. Brad and his team replaced the original wooden posts in our 1906 home with a load bearing wall (the lower cost option), added a new set of steel posts and beams to resolve a set of overstressed joists, and added a small load bearing well to relieve stress around our poorly designed original stairwells. We had Brad Scott Construction come out to assess the need for remediation and it turns out it wasn't necessary. The advise was very much appreciated and their advise was to not do anything at all. They could very easily have sold us on something that was expensive and unneeded but they didn't. Very much appreciate the professionalism and honesty.
