Great Ski Vacation This is an absolute amazing place for a ski vacation. We went there during the thanksgiving weekend and simply fall in love with the lovely surroundings. The ski slopes are wordclass, the rental ski equipment very good and the snowmaking is in progress throughout. The slopes are well maintained, the charges are slightly high but not overly expensive and there are a great many places nearby to spend the night. There is also night ski from 6 pm to 10 pm everyday where you get this great feeling of diving dow... read more

Boyne Mountain This is a pretty good ski resort, considering it's northern Michigan and not out west. They have lots of different runs and different skill levels. They have a hotel and condo's to rent on the property if need be, lots of parking and a shuttle that takes you from your car to the base of the mountain. Prices are a little high, but they have discounts and such, just keep an eye open for them.

More Challenging Slopes, New Accomodations If you are looking for the closest thing to "big mountain" skiing in Michigan, Boyne Mountain is the place to go. There are a wide range of slopes and high speed lifts, so any skill level can find some way to pass the time. There are several new lodging options and a new indoor water park, which just opened in 2005.

Large resort This is probably one of the largest resorts in Michigan. They have a lot of runs, but I find that the greens are separated from the other areas. This makes it a bit difficult if you are skiing with people that would like to take different level runs but end up at the same lift.
