I had a very disappointing long-distance move with Boyd Moving & Storage from Ottawa to Edmonton. I was given an initial quote of $5,500, but in the end, I was charged $7,200 — a huge and unexpected increase in cost. The communication throughout the process was poor, and when I contacted the company about the issue, they were completely unhelpful. I dealt with Dave Weston, who was dishonest and unprofessional. Eric and Logan were fantastic, we have moved 8 times in the last 12 years, with multiple international moves and these guys were the best. Can’t recommend them enough. Our whole experience with Boyd has been great, but Eric and Logan made the whole experience as stress free as possible. They did such an amazing job and really took care of all of our belongings. This started out as a good service. I moved from Ontario to PEI, so I needed a long-range haul. The quotes I got from various companies were either approximately $4000 or $850, the lower of which I was suspicious of for obvious reasons. This place came in at around $3500, so the low end of high and I decided to go with them. The initial quote seems to be very reasonable and better alternative than the most quotes i got for moving to Texas from ottawa. They assessed the images i sent, along with other information and confirmed the quote for 4400lbs. Then there comes the relocation specialist who just bumped up the weight to 1300 more lbs, while nothing was off track from the original images sent.
