Went in for an epigastric hernia repair. FYI this is my third hernia surgery. I've had inguinal repairs with mesh on both sides from a different surgeon. When I woke up from surgery I was told the hernia was too small to use mesh, so he just closed it. He also said I had a blood vessel that was enlarged and had to be cauterized. I was charges for two hernia repairs when im not sure they did anything. I spent over $4k out of pocket and the hernia was never repaired. Dr Reinhorn is a wonderful person, and an expert, highly skilled surgeon. My pre-op exam was very thorough. Dr Reinhorn explained in detail what I could expect from my surgery. He then patiently answered all my questions, and laid to rest all my concerns. Having had prior hernia surgery elsewhere with a different surgeon and a different outcome, I was worried about going home with a catheter, as well as needing prescription pain meds which might conflict with other meds I was regularly taking.
