I saw the sign for the BBC while in the midst of section hiking the northern half of the trail. I took a chance and walked the .4 miles down the road to see if there was any availability. I lucked out and was able to stay in the Black Spruce cabin for one night. It was awesome! S&S have thought out the details of what would make a stay at their cabins a good experience for backpackers and it is so cool that it is all off grid. I would definitely recommend staying a night at the BBC while hiking the SHT!!

The Boreal Backcountry Cabins are THEE best idea ever. A person can stay for the night on the way through or make it base camp for an entire vacation. It is a beautiful hike in and close to so may sites to see. The place is well stocked with wood, an outdoor shower, pots and pans, comfy beds and relaxing chairs both in and outside of the cabin. We hiked from the Britton Peak Trailhead the weekend of October 3, 2025, and had a wonderful time. The cabins are lovely, clean and have the necessities for cooking. Sonia was a gracious and thoughtful host. I highly recommend and hope to go back next year.

Me and my wife had a wonderful weekend at the Boreal Backcountry Cabins! Just a short 3.1 miles in on the Superior Hiking Trail and very easy to navigate. The owner was very pleasant and helpful to make sure we had everything we needed. What a beautiful piece of property, and great little cabins. Price of stay was very reasonable. We are already looking forward to our next visit 😊.

Stayed here over the long weekend with my friends, it was such an incredibly relaxing experience. Sonja was a delight and made sure we had plenty of firewood for the full weekend. The cabins were very clean and well maintained. The hike in from the trial head was relatively easy and I was able to complete it in the dark! I will absolutely be returning!
