Was a late decision to attend the Boorowa Festival so found it difficult to get accommodation in Boorowa over the weekend. Ended up staying in Young, a 35 minute drive away which turnt out ok. While in Young visited the Lambing Flat Chinese Tribute Gardens and had some great dinners at the Young Services Club. These 2 county towns are a credit to the locals. Travelled 14 hours to get here and there was no beer left when I arrived.
This is an annual event showcasing Wool production in the Boorowa area, an area steeped in Irish influence. There are demonstrations on shearing sheep and sheep dogs working sheep ( including an interesting summary of the history of kelpie breeding in Australia). Lots of food and market stalls along parts of Marsden and Pudman streets, which are closed to traffic for the weekend. All the local shops are open all weekend.
