Book by Owner? - Should be called - Crook by Owner. So we reserved this house back in September for a March spring break trip. I get an email, not a phone call, from the management company that they cancelled our rental three days before our arrival. The house apparently had a maintenance issue that could not be resolved before we arrived. I asked for a supervisor and they kept saying they would get one to call me back. Never happened. I do not recommend this management company. Poor staff communication skills. Properties not cleaned properly. Owner’s concerns and suggestions to Book By Owner staff not addressed in a timely manner. As an owner of one of the properties they managed, I received several reviews pertaining to the uncleanliness of our rental. I was both disappointed and embarrassed. I trusted this company to manage my rental property and they failed us. I will seek another reputable management company in the future.
We used Book by Owner Dillon to manage our Keystone property from June 2017 - August 2019. We chose BBO primarily based on cost and the appearance of being super responsive (you'll see throughout this review that in the end BBO was neither cheap nor responsive). We were mostly pleased with BBO for the first year, however, they do nickel and dime you on EVERYTHING! We did not have a great experience with this company. Biggest complaint is their lack of communication with us as owners. Hard to reach almost every time and no attention to detail. Would not answer my phone call and then text me right after asking what did I need help with. Hoping the renters were treated in a different manner. They did do some good things as well.
We stayed at a home managed and cleaned by book by owner and it was filthy. It was the dirtiest Airbnb I've ever stayed in. We literally found broken glass and a bic lighter near the children's bed. We found popped balloons under the children's bed which would've been seen if the bedding we changed, which concerned us. Baseboards hadn't been cleaned in ages and the tray for the fridge water dispenser was had caked on filth. We found random bits of trash all over the condo.
