Bongo Burger is still the best burger in the Bay. What makes it so good is the style. It’s not a massive, overloaded burger… it’s light (but filling), balanced, and somehow they manage to make a thin patty that’s still cooked medium-rare, juicy, and perfectly pink in the center. After supporting and dining at all three locations for over 50 years, and knowing Ali and the other original workers, today I witnessed the rudest, meanest treatment of elders that I have ever seen at any of the bongo burgers in my lifetime. The young lady working there, was initially hostile, and snippy with a couple who came in to order, a couple incidentally that I've been seeing around here for 50 years. We ordered the steak sandwiches, but the steak was extremely tough to chew and had a lot of fat. We also ordered the falafel, and it was burnt and didn’t taste right. As someone who is vegetarian and has eaten falafel many times, I would not recommend it. The worst part was what I witnessed from the staff. I saw employees wearing the same gloves while eating food in the back, wiping their mouths with those gloves, washing their gloved hands with soap instead of changing the gloves, and then going right back to preparing food... read more
