George was very helpful in fixing up our small sailboat. He painted the bottom of the boat, buffed and waxed the hull, fixed some chips, and replaced some wood components on the boat with starboard. The boat looks so much better now and it feels good to have it fixed up. George also helped to create a mast support and repaired and restored our rudder and tiller handle. We are new boat owners and it helped to get a complete survey on the boat and trailer from George. He gave us advice on what needed to be fixed and referred u... read more
Hired george to replace boat systems on a houseboat remodel. He was a total disaster. We pulled the plug on him after he far exceeded his estimate for the whole job but had only attempted a small portion of the work. After paying him, we discovered how sloppy the work he did perform was, and that pretty much nothing he installed worked. As one example of many on this project, he installed a bilge pump about 1 foot higher than the lowest point on the bilge, installed it to a piece of junk wood floating in the bilge rather tha... read more
George prepped by boat and put on two coats of bottom paint. The bottom looks fantastic! He also helped me with some sage advice on a couple of small jobs I was doing on the boat myself. George is a good communicator and showed up on time and when scheduled. The job was completed over a two day period and I was impressed with how diligently he worked. Many boat mechanics seem to get distracted and have a penchant for long-winded and bizarre stories. Not George. His work is focused and efficient. I would be glad to work with ... read more
After calling around several boatyards in the area, and getting ridiculous quotes with far-away timelines, I stumbled upon Boat Stuff. George was quick to respond with a quote, suggestions on where to haul out, and walked me through what he was planning to do. Several weeks later we did the project together - it involved bottom paint, seacock replacements, hull repairs. George was quick, taught me a LOT about doing all that work (and he likes teaching!), and gave me an honest talk about some of the things I wanted to fix (th... read more
Read the other reviews. There is a reason George / Boat Stuff has the poor reputation he does, its a well earned reputation. Most seasoned boaters know to stay away. George has done work on several of my boats (before I knew better). From incorrect splicing of wires & cutting wires to working systems to randomly cutting large holes into compartments and refusing to patch - it has cost me several thousand dollars to repair his mistakes. One resulted in an electrical fire, I got lucky my boat didn't go up in flames. In both in... read more
