Blue Ocean Realty listed a rental at 18 Chestnut St, Everett and when we inquired, Kay Ho said the lessee will have to pay half the broker's fee. A practice that has been illegal in Massachusetts since August 1, 2025. When a landlord hires the broker, tenants cannot be required to pay any portion of that fee. Worth knowing before you engage with this brokerage.
Already breaking laws before I even sent an application to rent. Run.
Blue Ocean Realty should be shut down. Extremely unprofessional and they discriminate any other people unless you are Asian. Unfortunately unless you are of Asian decent like them they will ignore your request and deny the applicant based on skin color. They should be reported and shut down!!
Someone I know lived here and dealt with a building-wide cockroach infestation for weeks without response, no communication with many requests through the portal, no clarity on parking, and many other negative experiences, many of which were unaddressed by the management. Avoid at all costs. Also, many of these reviews are identifiably written by employees. Negative stars.
BlueOcean provides reliable and efficient property management. They are knowledgeable, responsive, and always act in the best interest of the landlord. It’s been a great experience so far.
