I come back here anytime I travel the area. I don't know what it is about the area but I feel a closeness to God here and have had a few prayers answered that I prayed in that little open aired church. Beautiful area .forsure ❤️
We went on a Monday so the bookstore/gift shop was closed. Wednesday through Sunday you can take a train ride from Stearns. We drove but word of advice there is almost zero cell service and it has some steep inclines on way there and back. The park itself has recordings at different displays of mining camp life and is easily self directed. Has ample parking and restrooms were large and clean.
Very interesting to hear the history of this old mining community. So glad we went!
Lots of cool history. Talking about company towns and coal mining. Really good information and an insight into what would like was like less than 100 years ago.
