I don't understand how Blue Cross Blue shield has cornered the market for Texas state employees. Texas state employees are being held hostage to this healthcare insurance company which charges high rates and has high deductibles and has high increases every year, which we can't fight because we have no other choice in insurance providers. You either pay or you don't have insurance.
BCBSTX claims to be a non-profit organisation. However, it seems to be the opposite. I'm so disappointed that I'm searching for a new job just to get away from this insurer, which is the only one available through my employer. Last year, my monthly premium was around $1,000. This increased to $1,500 in 2026. The benefits are very difficult to understand. For example, I had a kidney ultrasound which was coded as an X-ray. The worse insurance company I have dealt with in my 60 years on this planet they cover my meds for first month then I get notification that they knowing more than my dr that I need to switch to a different medication because they don’t want to cover my medication that has been keeping me alive for 15 years to try some med that I have never heard of because it is free to them they are worse company around if you have a say never get blue cross blue shield
