I am very impressed. My wife and I ate dinner here the other night. The fish seviche was perfect, and the oysters carribe were outstanding. Our server was very courteous & knowledgeable. I'm excited to come back and try some of their special events some time.
watered down – Frequent business traveler to the triangle I had heard a lot of pros and cons about Blu. Went with friends and reservations. We were seated quickly - and quickly forgotten. the wait staff didnt seem to know their own menu or the specials. After 30 minutes half of us had a drink (the non-alcoholic drinks). an hour in there was still no food or even bread. Great experience at Blu – While I am a lifelong Durham resident, I ventured to Blu for the first time this week. We were greeted at the door, given a choice of indoor or outdoor seating, and welcomed by an attentive waitress. The specials were explained in detail and drinks/food arrived promptly. The scallop dish was truly wonderful as was the crab appetizer. We will be back for fresh, innovative food at Blu.
Superior seafood – great food. staff quite adept. this is a must go for seafood lovers. great ceviche, oysters and fish
Great food, manager screaming at staff – The food was great, however, the manager was screaming loudly at a waitress in the dining room. inappropriate handling, ruined an $80.00 meal. Having waited tables for years, I felt bad for the staff. Making a waitress cry in view of guests is uncalled for. I will never return. the food was great though. sad.
ANTS! – In no way do I want to demean this place, but for what it cost, the service and food could have been better. Oh, did I mention there were ants on the walls by the windows! When we asked to be reseated they didnt offer consolation like free dessert or something to make up for the ants like other places would have. I'm addicted! – I agree with kas23 that this is one of the best restaurants in town. I have been coming to Blu regularly for over a year now. I have always had great food and attentive and friendly service. The wine dinners are a great deal and so much fun! I also love how the menu changes a little bit every so often. It keeps it fresh and interesteing!
Best Seafood in the Triangle – I am very surprised to read about the experience in the previous review. My wife and I have been eating at Blu at least once a week since the restaurant opened 2 years ago. We have never been treated with anything less than the utmost courtesy and respect and I've never witnessed the general manager, chef/owner, or staff being anything less than professional and accommodating to the customers.
