When you watch your friend go through a terrible build and have close to 20,000 dollars be unaccounted for you know something shady was going on. I would not trust this contractor as far as I could throw him. This a direct quote from from the contractor “ I am going to treat you like family” well if that is how he treats family I feel really bad for them!
Do Not hire this guy. I hired him to build my house. Had issue after issue. Mistakes were made and he tried to charge me to fix them. I suspected he was trying to over charge me and asked to see receipts for materials and sub contractors. He stated he did not need to provide me with receipts. Told me electrical for my house was going to cost 32k. I later got several quotes from reputable electritians and highest quote was 19k. I was not happy with Hal at Blackledge this past year. I was leasing a home during the 2012-2013 URI academic year. Hal was very "I'm here for you day or night" when I met him, but when I really needed him, he was impossible to reach. When I finally reached him, he would tell me he would come by my house at such-and-such a date/time and then never showed up. I had damages to my house from Hurricane Sandy.
