The lookout area was super clean and well maintained. You can rent it and one of these days we will. As for a day trip it was still super special.
Was a few years ago (before the Dixie fire) but it was quite an experience. Was my first time staying in a lookout...which was amazing! I recommend arriving before dark bcuz the drive is a little challenging. The stairs are very steep so don't pack a heavy cooler like I did. Everything worked as described and the view was fantastic! Be sure to have 4wd!!
