Got a tour down this trail starting in the Commons on a school field trip. We had an absolutely amazing guide who answered questions people in my group had. It was conversational and educational. She had a binder put together to help explain and show the information being given on the tour. I learned a lot about the history in the area, that is often left out of school curriculums. Boston/Mass likes to act as though it was always progressive, that black Americans didn't suffer here as well. And it is absolutely not the case.... read more

This should be a required extension of the Freedom trail. Absolutely essential to understanding the true and complete history of both Boston and our entire country. Most of the stops are private residences but I actually much prefer it that way as opposed to houses wasted as tourist destinations. Homes are to be lived in. It's such an insult imo to use a home that way while thousands don't have their own. Anyway, at the end of the trail is the museum and the adjacent building known as the African Meeting House.
