Bishop Hill State Historic Site was founded by Swedish immigrants in 1846 who were seeking religious freedom after they left their homeland. Bishop Hill is a quiet country village which still has the charm and character of the original colony. Visitors can enter the church and also explore the ancient colony that was used by the residents. It was listed as a National Historic Landmark in 1984 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1970.

Had the most perfect day at a concert in the park. The town is so picturesque and beautiful! And so many cute places to shop and eat.
Went to the sunrise Christmas service. Made you feel as if you went back in time. Authentic candle lit service.
Quaint very very small town. Frank makes the best handmade brooms at the Bishops Hill Prairie Center.
