We've used Birnie Plumbing for years and have never been disappointed. The most recent visit was to replace a shut-off valve for a toilet. Communication from dispatch was thorough to let us know of a delay to the expected time. The plumbers who came out were, as everyone who works for Birnie's, efficient and extremely tidy. After many years of our sewer backing up and multiple plumbing companies coming in and out. I finally called Birnie and sons. Rob came out explained and showed me what was going on with our main sewer line. He was the first person after many headaches that told us we had a shared sewer line. After dealing with the city to do their part so we could have our own sewer line put in, Rob kept me up to date with everything. Had his locates ready to go, once the city finished they started asap. We had a sewer back up and called Thos R Birnie Lake Ave Hamilton. Service rep, Jamie cleaned brush and weeds from pipe and followed through with a video of the pipe from the house to the city connection. He was courteous and knowledgeable. Ensured the blockage was clear and provided printed costs for that service. A follow up visit was made by Robert who gave us a printed detail with costs of our options going forward. Called this company for a quote on two simple jobs: • Replace a tub faucet • Install a Vogo shower head For a plumber (or even an apprentice), this should be a 20–30 minute job. Instead: • The plumber showed up hours late. I had to call to find out where he was. • The quote came back at an outrageous $1,019 (see attached). • On top of that, they tried to push a membership plan. • When I called to complain, they didn’t care. If you need ANY plumbing done, do not bother getting any other quotes! Birnie’s Plumbing & Drains is exceptional. Kudoes to Gerry & Rob for diagnosing the problem and Tim & Dylon for repairing it.
