I was excited to come here but honestly left disappointed. Compared to what I’ve seen at other area conservatories (Oak Park, Garfield Park etc) the quality is just not the same. The front room had tons of plants set in the landscape but none were actually planted…just arranged in plastic pots. Likewise, the tropical room also had many plants that appeared to be sitting in plastic pots for years. The cactus room was downright dark and depressing. The place is ruined now. I hope the old time cacti & succulents were given to a proper greenhouse. I pray they weren’t thrown out just because they were big and hitting the roof. A real big shame.

My family and I have been fortunate to enjoy the Bird Haven Greenhouse and Conservatory year around, including at Christmas time. This year, again, the staff created the most beautiful and festive setting for Santa. I could never say enough wonderful things about the conservatory, and the staff that works there. The only small imperfection in the sparkling gem, created for Santa, is the unsmiling, semi aggressive "professional" photographers and families that show up on a day that is very children, and fun oriented to take t... read more
