History Established in 1959. On December 19th 1959, Robert & Jennie Smilanich opened Bimbo's Pizza at its present location. Robert and Jennie were from Chisholm, Minnesota, where they retired in 1972. Their son Ron & his wife, Sue, now operate Bimbo's Pizza. Ron & Sue's son, Matthew, and his wife, Gayle, are going to be the third generation to operate Bimbo's Pizza.
