In 2023 our house burned in the Mcdougall creek fire. Needing a place to live Derek and Sherry reached out to us that they had a guest house to rent. After renting and moving in to our beautiful little house we found out Derek was a builder and had built the guest house which was a beautiful build. We couldn't be more pleased with our 'Big Valley' experience. Right from our first contact with Derek, we knew we were in the hands of a skilled and conscientious contractor. In a timely manner, he delivered on his promise to: provide a quote, start the renovation and complete the job as promised. He displayed a high level of professionalism that was most appreciated and his attention to detail was evident throughout the process. We highly recommend using Big Valley as your contractor - we're certainly glad we did!
Derek has been working with us for close to 20 years, after multiple renovations, 6 to be exact. Derek built our dream home in 2016. He was an exceptional leader on site with the other trades and was always quick to share his expertise on design elements that made sense. He was more than fair on pricing with an exceptional work ethic. We actively recommend him throughout our travels.
Big Valley Homes did much more than the services listed, they built our new Carriage House. (they also remodelled the main house before that) The job was started sometime in September 2020, from Plans/Engineering, permits and construction it took approximately 8 months. Derek and his "top hand" Ken, worked in the cold, snow and rain, but the job was completed to our satisfaction. We worked with Derek 11 years ago to update our kitchen and were so please with the results we contacted him again to close in our unused sundeck into a useable indoor space. It is a an absolute pleasure working with Derek. He is hard working, a creative thinker, coming up with ideas we had never considered, meticulous and honest.
