Big Slide Brewery has been a staple of our Lake Placid trips since we started visiting a few years ago. We come up several times a year to hike, and either eat at or order take out from Big Slide every trip. Unfortunately, they decided to full pivot to a Mexican restaurant and change almost the entire menu. Not the best experience I've had from a brewery, but wasn't necessarily bad. I wouldn't go there again if I'm in Lake Placid.
The Mexican food was the worst I’ve ever had. Salsa and queso were definitely not made from scratch. Everyone’s meal was chokey, tacos sat in the counter and got cold while they were waiting for the other orders. Chimichanga was mostly beans and rice. Very little meat. Everyone’s meal tasted the same. Poor
I’m genuinely surprised by this visit. Big Slide Brewing used to be my favorite restaurant in Lake Placid, and clearly many others felt the same way. The positives: our waiter was personable, and the beer is still excellent. Unfortunately, the new Mexican-inspired menu was a huge disappointment. It was not at all what we were expecting from a place that had become a Lake Placid staple.
