Wonderful experience!! I've never been to a mine before so this was exciting!! (Also, now I know I wouldn't ever want to be a miner!) We saw some opals in the mine and also purchased some wonderful gift souvenirs. Again, there was no pressure to buy at all unlike a lot of commercial places, which made us buy more! Mr Stephen is an amazing person!!
Fantastic and highly recommend. This exceeded our expectations so much. Self guided mine tours was great as we took our time and explored at our own pace. To do this in a working mine is unbelievable. Seeing real opal still in the ground was great. The gentleman running and show has been there since 1986 digging this mine. Very knowledgeable and so friendly to talk too. Gift shop was amazingly as well. Great for the whole family. Just wear close toed shoes.
A wonderful experience with informative discussions on mining, Lightning Ridge and local history with the owner; a lovely gentleman. The underground mine tour was brilliant, seeing a working mine that is currently in use, having the opportunity to explore at our own pace was nice and quiet which allowed us to absorb the mine fully. It was spacious and had plenty of fresh air, not at all like mines I have visted before that were cramped and musty. I highly recommend this as a must see at Lightning Ridge. 5 stars all the way.
