Previous reviews set our expectations low, but we were pleasantly surprised. We needed two rooms for a rather last-minute trip, and even though it was the weekend after Labor Day, there weren't many lodging options remaining in Grand Lake that allowed only a one-night stay for a not-ridiculous amount of money. The photos on their website clearly show that Big Horn Lodge is a motel, and the room descriptions are accurate. This is not a lodge. It's a motel at best. The room is BASIC and the cleanliness is questionable. I'm not convinced some of the bedding had been washed between the last guest and us. There was an empty soda can on the floor under the bed skirt, popcorn crumbs along the bottom of the bed on the ground and debris all along the baseboards. The carpet is old and dirty and weirdly thick. I had to kill countless spiders that seemed to be coming out of the old heater along the baseboards and a cockroach in the bathroom. My experience here was great. The room was nice and clean, I found the bed comfy, it was nice to be able to use the hot tub, and location close to downtown shops and restaurants was perfect. I would certainly stay again.
Nice quiet place at the entrance to town can walk or drive to the marina and beach with plenty of restaurants and shopping on the way.
