Great place to stay!
Our three night stay at Big Bend Observatory was one of the best parts of our ten day trip to TX/NM. We had scheduled our trip to take advantage of the dark skies, and had so much fun with the Seestar S50 scope. Even though we were rank beginners, we could find specific stars and galaxies and end up with marvelous photographs of things we couldn't see with our naked eye. It was amazing. This little cedar cabin has it all! They thought of everything. The cabin has a bunk bed, a reclining love seat, a MacBook for Internet access, smart TV, refrigerator, stove and oven, microwave, coffee maker and coffee, cups, plates, cooking utensils, flashlights and it was immaculate. Very nice. Only thing is we had issues viewing anything from the provided telescope. Didn't get to see anything. Disappointed about that. Nobody bothers you. And they provide everything. Visited in May. Awesome time of year to go.
This was a great place to stay to enjoy the dark skies, Big Bend, and the ghost town. The cabin was clean, organized well and the manager was incredibly communicative. We will definitely return.
