I would not recommend this place if you’re looking for any Indian food. If you want to experiment with a different take on dishes that have the same Indian names, then of course you can give it a try.
This place is a gem in Santa Barbara. They catered our wedding reception and our guests loved the food So special!
We had an excellent meal at Bibi Ji and I would rate it 10 stars if I could! This is not your usual “cheap and cheerful” Indian curry joint. I lived in India as an expat and grew up eating Indian food all over the US. This is special - complex flavors and some nice heat. We had the tandoori chicken, coconut curry with shrimp, eggplant curry, basmati rice and naan - even the naan was special! Yes, it is a bit pricier than the local Indian joint but well worth it!
I'll start by saying the food was delicious, but the problems with organization, service, and timing made it not worth it. When we arrived, they asked us to wait outside for the 5 minutes before our official reservation time, despite the restaurant being fully empty. Once we were seated three of the settings had an actual serving napkin while the fourth had 4 folded over bathroom paper towels. We were 10 minutes early for our reservation but it was dead so it seemed fine to walk in. They asked us to come back later. We didn’t.
