The Berwyn Fire Department was established in 1922 as a Full Time paid force consisting of eight personnel. Prior to 1922 the fire fighters manned two fire stations with volunteers who were, by 1915, paid for each fire they fought. As the city grew, another fire station was constructed along with the new City Hall project in 1939.
