Same song, next verse. Took car in for minor valve work. Pete Called with an estimate for laundry list of additional work totally $2700, including $1500 for tune up, and $800 for brake job. So I have been dealing with car repairs since last May. When my car wouldn't start and I had in towed in to Bertino's Auto Service at 900 Plainfield Rd in Joliet. Pete said my battery needed to be replaced and the alternator too. Charged me $1300. Pete Bertino was an acquaintance of my former boss. I have known him for over 20 years. Returned here after a couple years because I trusted the mechanics that used to run the shop. Noticed that they overcharge for parts now and it's just not the same service that I was used to.
It's NOT Glen & Wayne's Bertino Service anymore! Beware! Last week I had an alternator & battery replaced. Battery retail/street price was $167.95. They charged $229.99. Alternator retail/street price $174.99 to $286.99. They charged $552.10. After I confronted the new owner he stood by his pricing. Sorry but I'll NEVER be back.
Bertino's was recommended by a friend he was friends with the owner and said i wouldn't be jerked around. My starter had gone out so I took my Toyota Forerunner to him. I was informed it was my valve cover gasket that failed and oil leaked into my starter and shorted it out. also was informed my timing belt was over due for a change which i opted to not change this visit.
