The seafood stroganoff is worth another trip from NJ. The server was excellent, friendly and fast. The atmosphere there makes you very comfortable , like being at your new favorite local place.
I will never know. Said it was open until 11 but was closed at 930p on a Tuesday. No sign or times on door.
Our waitress did not offer us specials. She took forever to take out drink order, and then it was another 10 minutes before she brought the drinks. We had been there 20 minutes before she came back to take our order. We came for a special night out as I have raved about the mussels. She then informed us that they didn't have any today. It was my husbands first time eating at Bernard's as we are newly married. He was not impressed. I was very disappointed.
My daughter and I ate here and had a less than enjoyable experience. The waiter, who was very nice, made a mistake putting in our order. Make a long story short, the owner had a fit in front of us (reluctantly prepared the crab cake we ordered) and made us generally feel unwelcomed. There was only one other couple there when we ate (in between lunch/dinner) and he refused to acknowledge or thank us as we left. Had lunch here in early September. It was fine. Average downtown Roanoke experience. Lunch items seemed reasonably priced. Food was fine. Service a bit slow. We had to twice grab someone from the bar to either get something or get us our bill even though we were the only table in the restaurant at the time. Food was fine, like I said, nothing spectacular, and I would not be motivated to return.
