Bernadette was an experience in contrasts. The food, mostly, was very good, if somewhat overly seasoned. The service was both attentive, inattentive and overly intrusive (if you leave a water carafe on the table, we can pour it ourselves) and the atmosphere was of an upscale bistro, but so loud while being about 1/4 full. All the smaller missteps could be easily overlooked if the prices weren't quite high, especially for a Salem establishment. Overall, we had mostly good food, okay service in a loud space.

I could not recommend this restaurant more!! I came here with my husband after our elopement ceremony, and it was the perfect dinner spot for us. We did not have reservations but they had space for us and welcomed us immediately. We had such a lovely server and so many other staff members who were consistently checking up on us and always making sure we had everything we needed.
