My mother lived an extra 2 to 3 years under his direction after a different doctor gave up and suggested I put her in hospice. When I called Dr. Berkowitz, he said it's not time to cry yet. We had some wonderful times during 5hose extra years. Truly priceless.
Highly knowledgeable and great care given to the patients.
Long story short, this doc really ended up burning me. His practice is from a different era. When I asked him for things, he'd just say "ask your PCP." My PCP isn't managing my cancer care, so that's inappropriate. There was so much push back to do basic things. All his referrals were to similar docs also ready to retire. As someone who knows a lot about surgery, I was kind of surprised how inaccurate his recommendations were regarding that. There were some references to him having negative reviews. Dr. B saved my life when I was told I only had 3-6months and to make me as comfortable as possible. Dr B took the time walked me thru 10 months of chemo, then only 1 surgical option and we concoured all. He's the best and I recommend him to anyone who gets such a devastating cancer diagnosis. He was always positive and encouraging. God bless him
