We had such a great experience with Berbower Builds, and I’m especially grateful for how Spencer handled what could have been a very stressful project change. His team had already demolished our second-floor balcony and was preparing to rebuild it in the same footprint when, at about 10 p.m. the night before framing was supposed to begin, I completely changed the plan. Ive heard horror stories about working with builders/ contractors when getting work done on your house, but my experience with Spencer and his whole team at Berbower Builds was nothing but positive. The whole team from the office, to all the builders, were friendly, professional and very responsive. Spencer and his team finished the project ahead of schedule and on budget. Make that 10 stars!! Spencer and his crew removed a damaged deck and built a new one -- and they were fantastic! We were especially impressed with their meticulous attention to detail, rechecking their work as they progressed to ensure no errors and avoid any needed reworking. The crew were obviously all skilled craftsmen and were all very friendly and respectful. Our next door neighbor is a retired contractor who occasionally observed across the fence. Spencer and his crew replaced a deck and built a pergola in the back yard. The old deck was awful, and putting up a pergola in the unique configuration that was required took vision. Spencer NAILED it! He explained each step along the way, and gave useful insights as to design, material selection, and engineering. It was a mixed experience working with Spencer. We hired him to demo our old and rotting deck and build a new one. For the foundation of the deck, he genuinely did a wonderful job. He wasn’t put in the best position to succeed. The engineer we hired was very bad (we didn’t know until it was too late unfortunately) and messed up several measurements, in particular for the slope of our concrete pad.
