I wouldn't let him perform surgery on an animal. He originally referred my Mom to VCU because he didn't feel comfortable to perform her hernia surgery. After a third bowel obstruction, he performed the surgery and 5 hours later, she passed away. If he wasn't confident enough to do it the first time, why would he perform it at all? Then a letter was sent to her home saying "I hope you feel better." Not long after, a letter was sent our that he's no longer at this location. Gee, I wonder why??!! My mom had hernia surgery on February 13th 2025 by this doctor And soon after her hernia surgery she passed away. Idk what happened but it wasn't 5 hours later she passed away. My last parent. And that hospital had the nerve to send a letter to the house telling my mom that I HOPE YOU GET BETTER. Seems like y'all think this is some kinda joke sending a letter saying that when she died in the same hospital. Idk about the first 2 reviews but I wouldn't let this doctor put a bandaid on a cut. Dr. Benselvan is the best. He corrected a surgery that was botched by a Richmond surgeon. Excellent personality, extremely knowledgeable and a pleasure to be around.
I saw Dr. Bensalven in the office and liked him very much. He really took his time to listen and answer a multitude of questions. He was very thorough in his answers and really seemed to care about me and my medical issues and concerns.
