This was great fun. Benny the Troll has unending personality and charm. The detail on his fingers, toenails and face are quite remarkable. Just a short walk from parking lot. First stop in shop to pay the $10 fee per person. Beautiful surroundings, water sports, cabins, and nice gift shop.
I don't think I can say good enough things about this spot! Although we didn't camp here (or even stay nearby!), it was absolutely worth the trek over during our first family trip to the U.P. The grounds were amazingly clean and beautiful, the owners and staff were INCREDIBLY accommodating, and Benny was more awe-inspiring than we could have expected! These folks privately funded this installation. Please go visit, buy some goods in their shop, or drop/send a donation, and help them keep this site open and taken care of. Well worth the drive to see, h... read more
I was fun to see Benny for the first time, the setting on the river is beautiful and peaceful. I imagine it would great to see when the leaves change color! The camp store is also super cute with fun items! Looks like a nice place to camp.
This is a nice, giant-sized sculpture set against a beautiful backdrop of water and woods. It's well made and very impressive. It looks like something out of a fantasy storybook. It's a very short walk on a well-maintained path to view it. There was plenty of parking and there are restrooms not far away. There is a $10 per vehicle charge to view, payable at the Northland Outfitters building by the parking lot. Worth seeing if you're in the area.
