Whether it’s the endearing service, casual atmosphere, fast delivery or authentic homestyle Thai cuisine, people cannot say enough wonderful things about Bennie’s Thai Café. What started as a small steam table inside a Blimpie’s franchise downtown has now become a financial district favorite for business lunchers and residents alike. Bennie Boon began serving her Thai curries to her employees while still operating the Blimpie’s location, but she knew that she wanted to devote all of her time to... read more

I ate at Bennie's last night. As usual, the food was very good and the service as well. The bill was placed on the table and something seemed wrong. The first thing I noticed was an 18% gratuity was added tom the bill without any notice or signs posted. Secondly, They only accept cash, so, I paid the bill and requested change. I never received my $3.75 in change. Make no mistake that this was in error. I think most patrons in the restaurant hear my request for change. If you do decide to patronize this restaurant, count your... read more
Good Thai in Financial District – Visited tonight for dinner, had the green curry chicken, it was excellent. Quite spicy, which I liked, but not "killer spicy". Actually, my service was quite good too, my waitress smiled and was prompt, and another waitress was kind enough to fill my water glass a couple of times when my waitress was busy, and she smiled too. The location is a little odd, down below street level and I almost missed it. Not glamorous outside, but once you get inside, it is roomy and comfortable (for NYC). The... read more
Great Home Style Thai This is a Thai restaurant your Thai friends will like. The Thai grilled chicken is out of this world, everything else I've tried is also great. Not fancy, but real friendly and reasonably priced.
do NOT go here if you are Asian – Everytime I have been here I have experienced absolutely HORRIBLE service. Granted, some of these reviews only solidify my claim that the service is poor, but I think it happens moreso b/c I am Asian. One time they sat me and my other Asian friend in the corner facing a wall while there were tons of other tables available. When asked to be moved, they did so but not without mumbling something to each other about it. After we were reseated, some other non-Asians came into the restaurant but w... read more
Editorial Review – Fast service and free delivery solidify this spot's place as a go-to for office lunch orders and quick hunger fixes.
Very Good Thai Food, Not good Service – If you are just interested in the food, this is a very Good Thai place to eat. If you're looking for friendly service, forget it! Once you're in, they want you out right away when the food gets to your table. The waitresses has lack of personality and friendliness to serve customers. Their facial expression tells it all, it almost makes you not want to come back, however, the food is so freaking good, you put up with their annoying looks. I tried several different Thai places in down t... read more
Worth a Visit – Though hidden beneath the corner of Fulton Street, this place is packed during the lunch hours - when I usually go. This, itself, should explain how popular Bennie's is. What really keeps me going back is the good food, quick service, and how inexpensive it is. If you just want tasty dishes (pad thai noodles, spicey rice dishes, etc.) and inexpensive food, you're in for a treat. It's true that they rush you in and out, but that's because this place gets a lot customers! Good place to bring your friends, co-wo... read more
great thai food The prices are good, and the food is amazing. The atmosphere is sort of bland (which I don't mind), but then again, it is in the financial district. The basil and eggplant dish is absolutely delicious. and I believe they have a good lunch special. I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to go there, but if you are around there and hungry, stop in.
Best place to eat in Financial district – These are the things i look for during a lunch near my office: - great food (check) - cheap (check) - fast (check) Don't worry about service, atmosphere, that stuff. You go there for some good homestyle Thai cooking. I can't stop ordering the Pad See Eiw everytime I go there, even though I promise myself each time I'll try something new. The curry dishes are great too. It completes my lunchtime trifecta of: Burritoville, Subway, and Bennie's.
